Greetings and welcome to B.F. Grady Elementary School, the Home of the Panthers!  I am thrilled that you have decided to view our school’s website in order to learn more about the wonderful students, staff, and programs we have to offer.  As you explore our website, you will notice that all of our teachers have created and maintain a webpage to keep parents informed.

B.F. Grady Elementary has a reputation of excellence, and we will continue to strive to help each student find his or her passion in life. We believe that every student has a gift to share with the world, and we work hard to unlock their dreams and highest potential All of our efforts directly support the positive experience of our students.  Staff members and families come together to ensure that the children entrusted into our care grow to be productive, confident, and compassionate members of a global society.  Our goal at B.F. Grady Elementary is to help create awesome humans.  We have high expectations of our students, and we have even higher expectations of ourselves.  We know the importance of school teachers, administrators, and staff members in the lives of children.  Research shows that quality teachers make the difference—not only in students’ academic performance but also in their lifetime success.  As a result, we will remain diligent in ensuring all students are all successful.

I encourage you to visit our beautiful school and see that we are a school that is totally committed to children.  I trust that you will feel our strong sense of community and Panther Family pride.  To our parents, we believe that your involvement is an essential component in the academic success of your child.   I encourage you to visit our website often, meet and connect with your child’s teacher, track student progress and grades through Parent Portal, join the PTF, and get engaged in all that B.F. Grady Elementary has to offer.  Your participation in our school is needed and greatly appreciated!

Please continue to visit our website for updates throughout the year. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail at awallace@duplinschools.net or by phone at 252-568-3487.

Please know that I consider it a privilege and blessing to work with our students daily to help them grow to be their very best.  Each day, I am amazed by the sacrifice and acts of kindness shown by the people of our school community.  It is these daily reminders that make our school and district unique and special.  I couldn’t be more blessed to serve such wonderful students, parents, and staff. We invite you to be our partners in our work, and we look forward to partnering with families and the community to accomplish great things for our students!

Blessings to all!

Thing 1

Hurricane Florence was strong,

but Duplin County and Eastern North Carolina are stronger!

Hope Rocks

The Hurricane Hope Rocks Project was initiated to give our B.F. Grady Elementary students the opportunity to lead and serve by spreading the message of hope in the communities devastated by Hurricane Florence. Our students missed almost six weeks of school due to flooding and damage in Duplin County.  Upon the reopening of school, every child and staff member had the opportunity to paint Hope Rocks.   Almost 1,000 Hurricane Hope Rocks, painted with love by our children, were placed all over the eastern U.S. coast in multiple towns, counties, and states.  The time spent painting together provided therapy for our students, as they opened up and shared heart-felt experiences.  Most important, this project was a way for our students to reach out and bless others with an act of kindness.  It was important for our children to be able to create a positive memory associated with the storm.  Students were able to share and focus on their observations that "when mother nature is at her worst, mankind is at its best".  Our Panther Family has been blessed by the social media posts, emails, cards, and letters sent to the school about how these rocks are touching the lives of others.   Recently, the whole school was in tears during the morning announcements, as a touching letter was shared about a Hurricane Hope Rock found by a little boy with cancer.  The Hope Rock traveled with him to Levine Cancer Center in Charlotte where it will continue to spread hope to others most in need.  We are thankful to Home Depot of Jacksonville for generously donating the river rocks for this project.  #BFGspreadshope

Motivational Mondays

Motivational Monday

We start each week with Motivational Monday at B.F. Grady Elementary School!  Positive messages fill little minds and hearts through the inspirational music played on the speakers in the hallways, positivi-TEEs worn by staff members, and in the words we choose to speak to our children.  I am so blessed to work with two Assistant Principals that share my vision and passion for school leadership - Tabitha Smith (center) and Suzanne Vann (left).

We should speak to our children as though they are the wisest, most kind-hearted, and beautiful souls we have ever known; for what they believe is what they will one day grow to become.

It is never too early to think about college and career!
